We are proud to announce that, following the outstanding success of our inaugural Sports Dinner in February 2007, we are organising a 2nd Sports Dinner on Wednesday 25th February 2009.
The event will once again be held in the Portsmouth Guildhall and will be packed with great entertainment. Following a champagne reception, ladies and gentlemen will sit down to a 4 course dinner with complimentary wine and port whilst being entertained by our excellent speakers. We will also be offering a number of quality sports related raffle prizes and auction items during the evening (please have a look at the “History” link from our home page to see the quality of the items from our last event).
Roger Johnson, BBC South Today’s sports presenter, will be our MC for the evening. Roger did a fantastic job last time round and we are delighted that he has agreed to do us the honours once again.
Our speakers this year are from the worlds of Cricket and Comedy.
John Barclay is a renowned after dinner speaker, focussing on anecdotal stories aplenty from his world of county and international cricket. John is the ex Sussex county cricket captain, manager of England touring teams and MCC Committee member.
Jed Stone is one of the funniest comedians around, and has entertained people around the world in the company of many of the world’s sporting greats.
With the event following on from the heels of the Beijing Olympics, and Havant’s aim to have club members involved in London 2012, the evening promises to be one to remember.
All fundraising from this event will go towards future sports development and local charities.
